Can Acupuncture Help with Sexual Pain or Pelvic Dysfunction?

with Vic Senese, RN, BSN

March 28, 2026

A conversation with the UroNurse community on where acupuncture and dry needling genuinely help with sexual pain and pelvic floor dysfunction, and where they do not.

I joined Vic Senese on UroNurse, a community built for urology nurses and clinicians, to answer a question I get from both patients and colleagues: can acupuncture actually help with sexual pain or pelvic dysfunction?

This was a clinical audience, so we stayed concrete. We talked about what the pelvic floor is doing mechanically, why so many patients arrive after being told their imaging and labs look normal, and how muscle and nerve function get missed by standard workups.

We also covered where needling helps, where it does not, and how acupuncture fits alongside pelvic floor physical therapy and urologic care rather than competing with it.
